A patented, construction method in which the upper is attached to the outsole and sock lining with a heavy waxed thread making the footwear extremely flexible. The heavy waxed threading is used to increase the flexibility of the shoe. The thread allows the upper, outsole and sockliner to move with the natural movement of the foot. The Opanka construction maintains the safety devices within the shoe while adding flexibility as well as comfort.
